La Palapa is located in the historic "Zona Romantica" just a short walk from the plaza Olas Altas where you can pick up a bus to any part of Puerto Vallarta for 4 pesos (about 35 cents US).  Of course, taxis abound everywhere, and a taxi ride to the marina or hotel zone will run about 50 to 60 pesos (about $4.50-$5.00 US).  The beachfront location of La Palapa makes it a perfect spot to enjoy the pleasure of the beaches at Puerto Vallarta--jet-skiing, para-sailing, swimming in the ocean or just sitting under an umbrella in one of the plentiful beach chairs and enjoying a delicious tropical drink.

 
 
Speaking of tropical drinks, the bar and restaurant at La Palapa is a Puerto Vallarta landmark and a must for sunset watchers.  The restaurant is one of the best in town and serves one of the best breakfasts in the area.

 
 
The privately-owned condominiums in this seven story beachfront complex are spacious, well-appointed and many have fully furnished oceanview terraces that provide views of Playa del Sol and Bahia de Banderas that are unrivaled in all of Puerto Vallarta.  The kitchens include refrigerator, stove, pots and pans, glassware, and the all-important blenders and coffeemakers for festive evenings and convenient and cozy breakfasts on the terrace.  All rooms are air-conditioned, but the well-ventilated rooms open to the sea air and the use of ever-present ceiling fans keep everything very comfortable.

 



 
  

The rooftop pool and terrace is also a terrific part of life at La Palapa.  After a swim in the ocean, just take the elevator up to the roof and after a rinse from a fresh-water shower, slip into the pool and relax on the many lounges or tables and enjoy another beautiful view--this time the tiled rooftops of the Old Town section of Puerto Vallarta.  It is a tranquil environment after the activity of the beach scene and a great place to enjoy a little lunch brought up from your room or catch up on the sleep you might have missed after a night of dancing at a local nightclub.
